Thanks for the info, good to know the upgrades were meaningful. Wow, there's a 3xxx serial? They must be rare - I've seen plenty of 0,1,2s tho. I ended up buying a 3XXX model that has a much better LCD and hardly any wait time before the preview comes up on the LCD (probably just a firmware update for that one). I borrowed a friend's 0XXX serial number for a while and though the pics were awesome, the LCD was terrible to look at and it took a lifetime for the preview to show up on the LCD. Certain fixes were implemented in 2XXX and higher, like mirror fix and LCD upgrade.
I know an OpTech (or similar) is on my shopping list for some point, weight of a 5D, grip & a lens soon gets uncomfortable on your neck. You may choose the opportunity to get a better padded strap. There's plenty of Canon straps on eBay, or just about any camera shop. Changing from Nikon to Canon, and recently watching 5d's on Ebay, i found one i really like the look of but wondered if anyone knew how to use the serial number to detect the cameras age.Īlso although the camera looks to be in mint condition, it doesn't come with the neck strap, wondered if anyone knew where to get a nice eos 5d strap from.
